Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship will be held in Europe for the first time; Host City will be Berlin, Germany

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH and Upper Deck Europe announces Amsterdam as the host city for the 2008 European Championship

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH and Upper Deck Europe, Inc. announced today that the 2008 Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship Tournament will be held in Berlin, Germany on August 9-10, 2008. Setting the stage for the largest event of its kind in the world, trading card game and video game players from North America, South America, Europe, Oceania and Asia will come together in Berlin to become the world’s best Duelist.
“With Yu-Gi-Oh! continuing to grow at a phenomenal rate, we are delighted to be hosting this year’s World Championship,” offered Kunio Neo, President for Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH. “In bringing such an illustrious competition to Germany, we can perfectly illustrate just how important the series is to Konami, and look to introduce even more people to its delights in the coming year."
“Recognizing the increasing sales and demand from around the world, we are excited to have the World Championship Tournament for the first time in Europe,” said Nico Blauw, CEO of Upper Deck Europe.

Regional tournaments for the Trading Card Game are currently being held all over the world to qualify players to participate in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG National Championship Tournaments. In Europe, the National Champions and the top ranked European players are invited to compete in the 2008 European Championship, which will be held in Amsterdam in early July. Winners from the European Championship and other National Championship tournaments from around the world will then be awarded a chance to become the world’s best Duelist at the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship event in 2008. More information on dates and locations for Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Regional tournament events can be found at www.wannaduel.com.

The national tournaments for the video game will be organized in the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy. Participants will use Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2008 on Nintendo DS for intense duels. All details will be made available soon via the tournament website http://wc2008.konami-europe.net/
The Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card and video games are products of strategy, where players create individual decks of cards collected from Structure Decks and Booster Packs. Two players engage in a Duel while using cards that represent powerful Monsters, magical Spells and surprising Traps. Duelists with well-constructed decks, dominating monsters, solid strategy and good fortune are the victors in the game.
With over 1 million currently active players worldwide, cards printed in nine different languages and with over 15.8 billion cards sold worldwide since its launch, the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG is a global phenomenon. In Europe alone, over 2.5 billion cards have been sold since its European introduction in May 2003. The Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG is manufactured by Konami, and is distributed worldwide (with the exception of Asia) by Upper Deck.

The long journey of this year's GNGWC competition now remains the Grand Final Match on 1st December in Seoul, Korea

Tokyo, Japan - November 21, 2007 - Hundreds of Massively Multiplayer Online(MMO) gamers across the Japan gathered to Harajuku Quest Hall to see who will be the Japanese winners of the global MMO game festival "Game and Game World Championship (GNGWC) 2007".

This last regional final match, after Europe (Leipzig, Germany on August 23th), Korea (Yongin, On September 30th ), S.E.ASIA (Ho Chi Minh, on October 13th), and US (LA, on October 20th) match, attracted 195,000 Japanese MMO gamers to join the preliminary match from five official games: "Silkroad Online (www.silkroadonline.net)" , "Shot Online (shotonline.gamescampus.com), "Record of Lunia War (global.lunia.com)", "Navy Field (www.navyfiled.com)", "Warrock (www.warrock.net)".

Around 100 players who passed preliminary competition stepped up to the final round, and their supporters, from game buddies to family members, visited this show too to cheer players. Plus, the biggest Japanese MMO news site, "4Gamers", and Japanese branch of the global IT news site, "CNET Japan" visited the show to cover this 2nd annual Japanese final match.

Online Competition To Find Real Diamonds

RealNetworks today launched Diamond Detective, a new mobile phone game based on the massively popular PC puzzle game. The game incorporates a first-for-mobile online diamond hunt, in which players can solve clues to win real diamonds.

The competition will run in Europe from the game's launch in October 2007 until mid-2008. Over €15,000 worth of diamonds are up for grabs by players. Winners will be chosen at the end of each quarter, with three players eventually walking away with a small fortune in gemstones.

As players complete levels within the Diamond Detective mobile game, they are given hints about the locations of the stolen gems. They can then log onto the Diamond Hunt website: www.diamond-hunt.net and use these clues in the competition. Players can even download a demo version of the game from the website, directly to their handset – free of charge.

“This is a step in a new direction,” said Wilhelm Taht, Head of Marketing, Mobile Games EMEA of RealNetworks. “Our research has shown that there is a gap between the value consumers feel they receive compared to the steps they need to take for buying mobile games. By tying the game into an ongoing competition and giving players a reason to return and complete the game, outside the immediate fun factor, we're pushing mobile entertainment into very different territory and providing additional value for the players. They can even try the game for free first to find out if they like it. It's a no-risk deal for players.”

Diamond Detective is published by RealArcade Mobile and is developed by the mobile games studio Mr.Goodliving - the critically acclaimed team behind the hugely successful Playman series and other award-winning mobile games. Diamond Detective offers a new twist on a classic puzzle game in which players must create and remove chains of gemstones from the playing area within a tight time-limit. Success in doing so rewards the player with clues towards the thieves within the game – and the gems in the online diamond hunt.

“Diamond Detective is a fantastic game in its own right,” says Matt Turetzky, vice president, off-the pc games at Real. “It combines simple, pick-up-and-play controls with intuitive game play that can be understood in seconds, but which can keep players engaged for a significant amount of time as they try to create longer, larger and higher scoring chains of gems. We firmly believe that the game's natural appeal, combined with the attraction of the online Diamond Hunt and the chance to win real high value prizes will help Diamond Detective to raise the bar for mobile games.”

Diamond Detective has released this month through a wide range of mobile networks, carriers and retail channels. The online website can be found at www.diamond-hunt.net.

Diamond Detective was created using RealArcade Mobile's proprietary EMERGE technology, ensuring that the game will support the widest possible range of mobile phone handsets and ensuring gamers around the world can play and enjoy it with ease.
