Pokémon Ruby & Pokémon Sapphire: Super Music Collection launches on iTunes


The Pokémon Company International released a digitally remastered soundtrack from the Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire video games.

Released in Europe in July 2003, Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire were set in the island region of Hoenn, based on a real-world location, with the composers—Junichi Masuda, Gō Ichinose, and Morikazu Aoki—taking much of their inspiration from the Japanese island of Kyushu. Over ten years after the games’ original launch, the soundtrack releasing today includes beautifully adapted and orchestrated versions of their music.

Video Game Tribute Charity Album The String Arcade Now Available as Digital Download and CD Free sample tracks


Composer Dren McDonald is announcing the release of The String Arcade, a recording of classic video game music reimagined for string quartet. The crowdfunded album sells for $9.99 as a digital download from Loudr, iTunes, and other channels. In addition, BandCamp offers a $11.99 CD version and free streaming. (See below for store links.) All profits will be donated to the Alameda Music Project, a tuition-free afterschool program that provides intensive classical music instruction to underserved children in grades K-5.

Classic video game music reimagined in The String Arcade album - Free track download


In August, Bay Area composer Dren McDonald led a successful Kickstarter campaign for The String Arcade, a recording of classic video game music reimagined for string quartet. The finished recording was distributed to backers this month and is now available for preorder to the general public from iTunes and BandCamp (see below for links). The String Arcade will officially release February 11 for digital download and CD.

Remastered and reorchestrated soundtracks, Pokémon HeartGold & Pokémon SoulSilver: Super Music Collection launches on iTunes


The Pokémon Company International today has released a digital remastered soundtrack from Pokémon HeartGold and Pokémon SoulSilver.

The game, which released in 2010, featured in-game music composed by Junichi Masuda, Gō Ichinose, and Morikazu Aoki, and included remixes of iconic 8-bit themes from Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver.

Soundtracks of Pokémon FireRed & Pokémon LeafGreen: Super Music Collection now live on iTunes



The Pokémon Company International has released the classic soundtracks from Pokémon FireRed & Pokémon LeafGreen: Super Music Collection versions on iTunes.

The Pokémon FireRed & Pokémon LeafGreen: Super Music Collection features beautifully adapted and orchestrated versions of the original in-game music, composed by Junichi Masuda, Gō Ichinose and Morikazu Aoki. The game originally launched in 2004, and the original soundtrack accompanied Pokémon Trainers on their journey across the Kanto region.

VLAD, a Castlevania remix EP by Joshua Morse



The video game remix record label GameChops has just released VLAD, a four track tribute to the music of the early Castlevania games. Castlevania was originally released on the Nintendo Entertainment System in the late 80’s.
