The Release of Resident Evil 5 Original Soundtrack - Featuring Music Composed by Kota Suzuki, Hideki Okugawa, Akihiko Narita and Seiko Kobuchi
Sumthing Else Music Works, Inc., through its licensing relationship with Capcom, proudly presents Resident Evil 5 Original Soundtrack featuring the original music score from the new generation of the fear-inducing video game series. The Resident Evil 5 Original Soundtrack 3-CD set is released today to retail through Sumthing Else Music Works. The physical CD is distributed by Sumthing Distribution and the digital release is available on Sumthing Digital and iTunes.
The Resident Evil series has sold over 40 million units since the original game was released in 1996 and has spawned a multi-million dollar trilogy of films from Sony Pictures. Winning numerous awards and widespread positive reviews, Resident Evil 5 is one of the most talked about and critically acclaimed games of the year. Game Informer honored Resident Evil 5 with "Game of the Month" status and an impressive 9.5/10 review score while PlayStation: The Official Magazine rated Resident Evil 5 with a perfect five-out-of-five score, remarking that "RE5 takes the co-op experience to a new level and reinvigorates the survival horror genre in the process."
Lead Composer Kota Suzuki: "As the look of the game has changed from the previous series, I spent many hours trying to figure out how to approach it with music. We tend to relate horror with darkness, but this time the game takes place in Africa with a blazing hot sun." I contemplated on how I could stir the player's emotion by music embodying two opposite elements? After much trial and error, the director came up with a key phrase 'panic horror.' And from there, I put my focus on panic-stricken music for the players. In fact, I did often get panicky while playing this game myself. I wonder what your experiences will be?"

Resident Evil 5, Street Fighter IV and Bionic Commando Coming to PC Starting in July
Capcom announce that three of its blockbuster hit console games of 2009 will be coming to the PC beginning this summer. Bionic Commando, Street Fighter IV and Resident Evil 5 will all be coming to the PC, beginning in July with Street Fighter IV and Bionic Commando, while Resident Evil 5 comes later in the year. All three games will be optimized for the PC platform and will have new PC-specific features added to the already great games. All three games will be available both at retail and via various digital distribution methods.
Street Fighter IV features a mix of returning favourites such as Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li and Guile along with new characters created for this game, such as Crimson Viper, Abel, El Fuerte, and Rufus. Characters and environments are rendered in stylized 3D, while the game is played in the classic Street Fighter™ 2D perspective with additional 3D camera flourishes. Instantly familiar six-button controls are the hallmark of the game, with a host of new special moves and features. Mixing classic genre-defining game mechanics the franchise is known and loved for with all-new, never-before-seen gameplay systems, Street Fighter IV brings a brand new fighting experience to fans the world over. The PC version of Street Fighter IV will feature online play, higher screen resolutions and three new shaders based on three of the “artistic” trailers released in 2008 that will change the visual appearance of the game: “watercolour,” “poster” and “sumi-e ink” styles. Street Fighter IV PC is scheduled for release throughout PAL territories on July 3.
The first true sequel to the classic 1988 Nintendo Entertainment System original, Bionic Commando sees the return of the bionically-enhanced Nathan "Rad" Spencer. Time has not been kind to Spencer: 10 years after his heroic defeat of the Imperials, he has been betrayed by the government he swore to serve, imprisoned for crimes he didn't commit, and sentenced to death. Bionic Commando transposes the swing-and-shoot gameplay of the 8-bit original onto a stunning 3D environment of towering buildings, suspended roadways and monorails, deep canyons and sheer rock faces, where every environment is scalable using swinging, repelling, climbing and wall-walking techniques. The PC version of Bionic Commando will support higher resolutions than the console version, remappable controls including mouse and keyboard support, support for both DirectX 9 and DirectX 10 and online connectivity for multiplayer sessions.
In Resident Evil 5, returning hero Chris Redfield is sent to Africa to investigate a biological weapon that is transforming the populace into aggressive and disturbing creatures. Joined by another local BSSA agent, Sheva Alomar, the two must work together to solve the truth behind the frightening turn of events. Featuring a revolutionary new co-op mode of gameplay, Resident Evil 5 will let players experience fear together as terror moves out of the shadows and into the light of day. The PC version of Resident Evil 5 will feature online play for co-operative play sessions over the internet and will also take advantage of NVIDIA’s new GeForce 3D Vision technology (wireless 3D Vision glasses sold separately).

Resident Evil 6 could take eight years say producer
Resident Evil 6 could take 8 years to reach the shelves, according to Resident Evil 5 producer Masachika Kawata.
"We haven't decided whether we're going to make Resident Evil 6 yet...," says Kawata. "But if we do, it could take anywhere up to eight years, but hopefully only four."
Resident Evil 5's retail success means there will almost certainly be a sequel but eight years? The longest wait in the series was between PlayStation's Resident Evil 3 in 1999 and GameCube's Resident Evil 4 in 2005 but that was bolstered by several Resident Evil spin-offs in the meantime. Could it be the same story here?

Resident Evil 5 Ships Four Million Units
Capcom announces largest launch ever of a Resident Evil title.
Capcom have released details that Resident Evil 5 has shipped four million units worldwide since launch, additionally, the demo available from Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network has itself been downloaded over four million times. All of which equates to the largest launch of a Resident Evil title to date.
We should state that 'units shipped' are those shipped to retailers and not necessarily in the hands of gamers, but given the popularity of the Resident Evil series it shouldn't be too long before they are snapped up.
Capcom must be pretty pleased with themselves regardless of the exact number sold, first Street Fighter IV ships two million units in its first week knocking the mighty Wii Fit from the top of the charts, but now Resident Evil 5 ships twice that much and also jumps to the top of the charts.
