Fans everywhere can enjoy a new “Happy Birdday” update for Angry Birds, which features 15 delectable new birthday cake levels, spiffy new menus and graphics, and special achievements. As a birthday gift to fans, all episodes are now unlocked. In addition, the new Rovio channel gives fans instant access to their favorite content. News, games, videos, Facebook, Angry Birds shop, and other great content are only one tap away.
Fans in the US can celebrate Angry Birds’ second birthday by heading over to their local Barnes & Noble, which will have special events and giveaways from 11 AM to 3 PM on December 11. Angry Birds aficionados can join a scavenger hunt to find the Mighty Eagle or enter a raffle to win special Angry Birds prizes. Along with the Birds & Noble Scavenger Hunt, select stores may offer additional activities such as coloring or high score contests, design your own Angry Birds character, Angry Birds Parades and guessing games. Fans can also check out the wide variety of Angry Birds merchandise available at “Birds & Noble”, including mugs, backpacks, and even a brand new sugar cookie available only at Barnes & Noble.
Toys ‘R’ Us is also getting into the “birdday” spirit. Fans who go to the store on December 11 can get 25% off Angry Birds plush toys plus a code that unlocks an Angry Birds Chrome Seasons’ Greedings bonus level.
For Angry Birds fans in Japan, Rovio CMO and Mighty Eagle Peter Vesterbacka will be giving a special presentation at the Apple store in Ginza. Vesterbacka will share stories about how Rovio took Angry Birds from just another mobile game to a worldwide entertainment success story and how the App Store was involved. In Harajuku, Tokyo, an Angry Birds event will give fans a chance to play games and win prizes.
The Forbidden Planet London megastore in the UK will also be celebrating Angry Birds’ second birthday.
Although Angry Birds is only two years young, it has already been downloaded 500 million times, making it the most popular app ever as well as one of the fastest growing international brands.
