Skyrim hints and tips to improve your adventure - PC PS3 X360

Always carry a bow
It's great weapon for long distance damage you can soften up enemies and even sprinkle some poison on the bow before you fire create even more damage.

Loot whenever you can
A great way to build up your riches and grab some unusual items, but beware you can only carry a limited amount (determined by your stamina) Visit dungeons often as items that you missed will remain, but after three day the enemies will return! pick up a examine everything some items weight little but are worth lots - magic robes, gems, or jewellery are particularly worth carrying.

To help you carry more get yourself a follower they will help take the weight off but remember they also have limits. The earliest follower available Lydia is a good all round helper to have.

Remember to use your shield
In close combat blocking is an important skill and one that you can be level up quickly. It does lose stamina but can save health.

Don't be afraid to run
Sometimes running away from enemies is the best option. Try and find a better advantage point for fighting or find a place to hit them from a distance with your bow. This tactic can buy you time to take the relevant potion to help your attack.

Travel is Your Friend
While you can feasibly journey across Skyrim from one end to the other entirely on foot, such a trek is generally discouraged if you don't have a ton of real life time to kill. Fast travel is so great. Once you've discovered a town, you can fast travel to it. In-game time will lapse as it would assuming you had travelled on foot. It's important to discover new locations to fast travel to and use them as springboards for stumbling upon other unexplored territories.

The easiest way to start fast travel is by using carriages. Usually located at the stables outside of each Hold, and you can pay the driver a nominal fee (20-50 gold) to get to any other Hold. You only have to pay to visit each hold once. After that, you can just fast travel back for free!

On the flip side, exploring the land in an organic manner has its benefits. You will often find new and interesting quests, gather valuable loot and level up. Finding that balance between exploration and fast traveling is ideal.

Save your game often (PS3 players beware)
The best way not to lose your game progress is to save often, that said, take a look at earlier post on the PS3 issue with large save files lagging the game. Dungeons are dangerous so save often when in their depths.

How to earn lots of money easily
If your fed up chopping wood to gain cash then try Blacksmithing. You can make a load of daggers enchant them and sell them for fast cash. Use this tip often and you'll soon be able to afford the gold house.

Use your resources
Pelts can be used for leather or the Dwemer scrap metal can be transformed into ingots. Items you pick could help you level up skills. Use leather from a bear pelt to craft items to increase smithing. Carry as many items as possible for quests.

Use Equipment Shortcuts
Favorite your most-used items, spells, and weapons. Quick-access favorites menu (control pad up on consoles) to select and assign your favorites to your hands manually, or press left or right on the pad while in the menu to create two equipment sets. Left is set #1, right is set #2. To select the sets while in combat, press left or right on the control pad. Use this shortcut to equip an item in both hands by tapping the direction twice (useful for double casting).

When switching from a two-handed weapon to a one-handed weapon or spell by using equipment shortcuts, the last item or spell equipped in your other hand will also be equipped. Therefore, it may be useful to use one favorite for a two-handed weapon (such as a staff or bow) and the other for a one-handed weapon allowing you to switch quickly between ranged and close combat sets.

Rumors and chat
Innkeepers and bartenders tend to all kinds of worldly patrons and are often know things current in the land of Skyrim. Any time you visit a new town, head to the local bar or inn and inquire about job leads or rumors. These tiny kernels of knowledge expand out to full-fledged quests!
