Play Battlefield 3 this Sunday

This weekend will be the first opportunity for UK gamers to get their hands on Battlefield 3, widely considered by many as a candidate for game of the year.

Taking place this weekend (August Bank Holiday, 26th-29th August) at the Telford International Centre, insomnia43 has already been confirmed as the biggest ever UK LAN party, with over £50,000 up for grabs for those entering its gripping multiplayer tournaments.

Whilst the whole show will offer spectacular entertainment, the Sunday will prove extra special as Battlefield 3 makes its UK PC debut, almost two months ahead of its release.

“This is a real coup for insomnia43,” says Craig Fletcher, Managing Director, Multiplay UK, organiser of the event. “It will be the first time gamers will be able to see for themselves why Battlefield 3 has been garnering so much praise. It’s a stunning game, and one which is sure to draw a crowd.”

Whilst weekend gaming tickets with tournament access are almost sold out, day attendee passes are still available, priced £5, offering tremendous value for money. Day passes allow gamers access to watch all competitive qualifiers and finals, plus access to the bustling show floor, with stacks of new games and gaming technology to try.

Exhibitors include Currys, PC World, Samsung, Medion, liyama, ASUS, Riot Games, Aquatuning, ESET UK, Sapphire, Anthony Nolan, Kingston, Pro Class TV, Quiet PC, Razer, Triple Widescreen, Ttesports, Kustom PC and Antec – each entertaining crowds in different ways, with competitions and prizes throughout the weekend.
In addition, The World Cyber Games tournament will help select the players sent to compete in the global finals later in the year. Over 2,000 multiplayer gamers will fill the Gaming Halls, bringing along their own PCs and Xbox 360 consoles to compete in the tournaments. This number surpasses the record set at insomnia34 making it the largest LAN party not only in the history of insomnia events, but in the UK.

The total prize pot stands at £50,000, spread across 12 tournaments which include Counter-Strike: Source, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, FIFA 11: Xbox 360, Team Fortress 2 and Heroes of Newerth. The largest individual prizes vary between £2,500 and £15,000.
