Bethesda sold to Microsoft for $7.5bn (£5.85bn) Adds games to Xbox PC Game Pass subscription

Xbox owner Microsoft has bought Bethesda, the games company behind blockbuster titles including Doom, Fallout, Skyrim, The Evil Within and Wolfenstein.

Paying $7.5bn (£5.85bn) for ZeniMax Media Bethesda's parent company.

Microsoft have said that the Bethesda's franchise games will be added to its Game Pass subscription package for Xbox and PCs.

Helping to make the new Xbox Series X a lot more attractive than the PlayStation 5.

The PS5 and Xbox series X are due to launch this November.

Game Pass already allows players access to more than 200 games. It also includes first-party titles on launch day when you sign up to the "ultimate" package without additional cost.

Where as Sony will charge players up to £70 for their first-party major releases and PlayStation doesn't plan on including new titles with its PlayStation Plus Collection service.

The takeover may affects Bethesda's plans to create The Elder Scrolls 6, Starfield and other unfinished games as cross-platform titles.

Xbox chief Phil Spencer said the two firms "shared similar visions for the opportunities for creators and their games to reach more players in more ways".
