New action RPG game Transformice Adventures today, as well as the start of the Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign on May 7th to help fund the development of their new title. A successor to the popular MMO Transformice, Transformice Adventures is set to launch on Steam (Windows/Mac/Linux) and mobile devices later 2019.
The French independent studio Atelier 801 hopes to raise €100,000 ($113,000) with the Kickstarter campaign before the end on the 7th of June.
Set to release on Steam (Windows/Mac/Linux) and mobile devices in 2019, Transformice Adventures will see players take on the role of brave mice and battle various animal enemies in this four-player cooperative dungeon crawler. Combining rogue-lite game mechanics with expansive online social experience from its MMO predecessor, Transformice Adventures allows players to enter challenging dungeons and do combat with unique enchantments called Elisah’s Gifts that alter the mice’s skills and weapons.
They can also customise their playstyle by choosing different skill-sets and unusual jobs, from journalists to botanists, and take care of their own personal pets who can join and help them in their quests. At the end of the day, players can retire to the local tavern to chat with their friends, and show off their best outfits.
Tamarin is directed by Omar Sawi, who has brought on an all-star cast from Rare’s golden era to help execute his creative vision for Tamarin and recapture the style and magical experiences they were famous for. Creators of iconic characters such as Diddy Kong, Banjo-Kazooie, and Battletoads are responsible for Tamarin’s concept art, pre-production and character design. Donkey Kong 64 artist Richard Vaucher leads the art production and provides energetic, responsive animations. Donkey Kong Country composer David Wise adds to the atmosphere with compositions of melodic beauty and a brand-new style of catchy industrial beats. This is complemented by impactful sound effects by action-title veteran Graeme Norgate (GoldenEye 007, Killer Instinct).
Transformice, the massively multiplayer platform game about mice gathering cheese, was released in May 2010 by the two founders of Atelier 801: Mélanie Christin and Jean-Baptiste Le Marchand. Updating Transformice on a monthly basis, the studio managed to grow the MMO to a landmark 100 million registered accounts. Atelier 801 has also released multiple other games across different platforms including Bouboum, Fortoresse, Nekodancer, and Dead Maze.
Pre-orders are available now on the official Tamarin website, and include the following bonuses:
