Hilda Creatures mobile game, based on the new Netflix Original Series hit, Hilda. The animated series, which adapts the acclaimed comics by Luke Pearson, follows the adventures of a fearless blue-haired girl, as she travels across a bustling city, packed with mysterious creatures.
The launch of Hilda Creatures co-exists with the new show and book series, making Hilda a truly ‘360’ independent media brand - giving fans the chance to engage with the content in three entirely different and interactive mediums. The nascent game studio takes advantage of growing consumer appetite for quality, content-led mobile-gaming properties, as well as the growing demand from streaming providers for tie-in game titles.
Inspired by classics such as Animal Crossing and Viva PiƱata, Hilda Creatures allows players to meet and ‘collect’ their favourite creatures from the hit Netflix series. In the game, players try to attract characters and build friendships with them through exclusive items, picnics, or a simple pat on the head. They can immerse themselves in a selection of beautiful locations from the show that fans have fallen in love with.
James Wilson, co-founder and creative director of BIGUMAKU, said, “We’re thrilled to be part of this new hybrid adventure which translates exceptionally well to the mobile screen. Our team of 12 turned around this project in about eight months in order to coincide with the series launch window on Netflix. It has certainly been a milestone for our young company, using all of our creativity and passion for the Hildaverse to build something really special.
“Time and time again, we’ve seen games developed in association with huge movie and TV franchises; the booming mobile games market allows independent properties to do the same, and Hilda is an inspiring, contemporary, and magical brand to be working with.”
Hilda Creatures is the second offering from BIGUMAKU’s game portfolio, following Muvimi, the pocket-sized movie studio. The London based indie game developer combines unique artistic visuals with innovative gaming techniques to create apps for gamers of all ages.
