Animal Crossing New Leaf hints tips and cheats... - 3DS

How to Duplicate Anything
The Duplication Glitch is both a powerful and dangerous tool. If done properly, you can duplicate any item in the game. If done wrong, the item could be deleted forever. For a more safe approach to getting as many Bells as possible, look into Beetle hunting or even time travel.
The first thing you have to do is go to a friend's town with the item you want duplicated. It appears that you can either be connected locally or through the Internet, both work.

Once off the train in your friend's town, go outside and drop the item on the ground. Once the item is out of your hands, have your friend press Start and choose "End your multiplayer session."

This will start to kick you out, so get ready. The game will show that you are leaving, then the save screen will pop up. There is a small icon in the lower right corner during the save screen depicting a circle. It will "rotate," starting at the top of the circle. Let the circle rotate once, then hit the wireless switch on the side of your 3DS. It's a small window to hit, so if you are too fast or slow, you risk not having the glitch work correctly.

Once the switch has been hit, you should get a Resetti screen. Now, after that, you will show up back in your town. If the glitch worked, you should now have the item in your bag as well as the original item still on the ground in your friend's town.

Best Selling Prices
You can make most of your money by selling rare and valuable items from Fossils, Fish, Bugs, and other items. But knowing where to sell them might be a little tricky, in Animal Crossing New Leaf you can sell your items at both Re-Tail (Recycle Shop) and Nooklings in the main street area where all your other shops are at. If you take your items to Nooklings you will only be able to sell them at their lowest average price, if you take your items over to Re-Tail (Recycle Shop) you will be able to sell them for a little more than what they are if the price is reasonable, if you set them on auction at the Recycle Shop you can sell them for double their worth, the max amount your villagers will pay for that item depends if it's worth that value or not ie: Say you were to sell Amber which is usually about 1,200 you can double that to about 3,300 bell. the max limit for most rarest items can go for about 9,500 bell, any higher and the villagers may decline from buying it if you are offering it to them when they see it on the stall.
It should also be noted that you can change the price after a villager expresses interest in your item if you did not use this advice initially. The moment you see them take interest, go to your item and simply increase the price times 4 minus 1 bell. [EX: Item is offered for suggested 400 bells and you are selling it for less than 1,599 bells (400 * 4 = 1,600 - 1 = 1,599).

You can also sell your items directly to Re-Tail (Recycle Shop) by talking to Reese, she can take just about any or all items you want to sell, and they usually sell a lot higher than what you can get from Nooklings. Any rare items such as Silver and Gold Tools will only sell for about 150 Bells. Reese may decline buying fake items such as paintings and sculpts you may have obtained from Crazy Redd's store which appears as a tent on certain days inside your village. Reese will offer to trash these fake items for free, or you can place them in your own trash bins if you have them in your village.
Trash and Lost Items
Unlike in previous Animal Crossing games, where you had a single dedicated recycle bin found inside the Civic Center, in New Leaf you can place trash cans in your village through Public Works, which cost 53,000 bells. Any items you throw into the trash are permanently gone forever. Your Lost and Found items can be obtained from the Police Box by picking them up from the row of desks.
Booker stands watch over lost and found items and you are free to take them as you wish. In a dream at the House of Dreams you cannot pick up these items from the Police Box, nor can you pick them up while over in someone else's village if they've invited you over. If you don't have a trash can, you can have Reese dispose of the trash for a fee (or you can mail trash to villagers to avoid the fee).

Unlockable Locations
Most, if not all of these require it being 10 days past the start of the game, and most will all be available in the public works list.
  • Club LOL - Have Nookling Junction upgrade for the first time, give Dr. Shrunk permission when he visits your house, and obtain signatures from other villagers.
  • Dream Suite - (Req: 7 days after game start) Talk to Isabelle when she is sleeping. Dream Suite will be added to the public works list.
  • Fortune Teller Shop - Have your fortune read (which happens whenever Katrina visits your town) 20 times. Then speak to her and the shop will be added to the works list.
  • Garden Center - Pull 30 weeds, plant 30 flowers or trees, OR water 30 plants.
  • Kicks - Spend at least 8000 bells in the Able Sisters' shop.
  • Museum Shop - Donate at least 20 items (at least one from each category) to the museum, and talk to Blathers daily; the shop will become a works project.
  • QR Machine - Talk to Sable (in the Able Sisters store; the one sewing machine)for 10 days straight and on the 11th day it will be added to the back of the store.
  • Reset Center - Turn off your 3DS without saving, and when you start up your town, Mr Resetti will say that the Reset Centre closed, then its a works project.
  • Shampoodle - Spend at least 10,000 bells in Able Sisters' or Kicks. It must be at least 10 days since Kicks was built.
  • The Island Resort - Start up the game after finishing your upgrade to a house. Tortimer will greet you at the start up; meet him at the docks. You can go one day later.
  • The Roost Café - Donate 50 items to the Museum, and have the Museum Shop already unlocked. Talk to Blathers 7 days after the Museum Shop's opening.

Quick Method for Infinite Bells
You need two players both with Animal Crossing, one has to have a really strong price for turnips like 500 bells in their game (to be honest any price will do but this makes it quicker) and the other time travels (by setting the 3DS clock) to sunday morning. Now simply buy in the town that's on sunday and go and visit the friend's town and sell there and repeat with new money that you just got from the selling the turnips at like 5 times their normal value and you have a quick method of making huge amounts of bell. Have fun being a bellionaire.
WARNING: Time Travel may lead to lost neighbors and an abundance of weeds that will overtake your town. They are NOT easy to get rid of. It can also take the fun out of the game, but that's up to the player.

Getting Rich with the Money Rock
Each day in your town one rock contains Bells which you can liberate with a well-placed Shovel strike. The more you hit the rock, the more Bells you get. To maximize the amount of Bells you get, find a rock stand next to it. Dig holes to the rear and either side of your character. Better yet, plant bushes for a more permanent solution. Either method will trap you alongside the rock, and cancel the "push back" effect of your shovel strike. This allows you to rapidly hit the rock and make more money. Depending on what kind of tool at the time your shovel will have a different effect.
Hitting one of the permanent rocks in your village with a Basic Shovel will produce Bells totaling 16,000. Hitting one of the permanent rocks in your village with a Silver Shovel will produce either 16,000 - 18,000 Bell, or make 8 colored Ores pop out, this can happen randomly on any day from only ONE of the permanent rocks in your village, you can only get Ores or Bells on the day. The Gold Shovel has same effect as Silver Shovel when striking a permanent rock in your village.

ATM Savings Rewards
Save the following amounts of bells in the ATM (located in the post office) to have a gift mailed to you.
  • ABD - Achieve a balance of 100,000,000 bells
  • Aluminum briefcase - Achieve a balance of 5,000,000 bells
  • Box of Tissues - Achieve a balance of 100,000 bells
  • Letter Set - Achieve a balance of 500,000 bells
  • Mailman's Hat - Achieve a balance of 50,000,000 bells
  • Piggy Bank - Achieve a balance of 1,000,000 bells
  • Post-office - poster Achieve a balance of 10,000,000 bells
  • Safe - Achieve a balance of 20,000,000 bells

Magic Rocks
Like in the previous Animal Crossing games, there is a rock in each town that, if you hit it with a shovel or axe, gives out money. It only does this once per day, of course, but you can get up to 16,000 bells if you hit it enough. Every day there will be an extra rock in your town. Hit it with a shovel and it will break and reveal a different mineral. You can take these to Cyrus (once he wakes up) and use them as an additional way to make your furniture different. Or you can just sell them. Once you have the silver shovel, you have a chance of making gems come out of the money rock instead of bells. Also, you can take 3 gold gems to Cyrus and he'll make you a random piece of a special gold furniture set.

Free Furniture
If you go through a neighbors drawers, vanity, anything that qualifies as a storage unit, they may actually give you a piece a furniture for free. They will say something along the lines of not needed it anymore and simply give it to you.

View town's history
If you sit on the ledge at your mayor planted tree after it has grown for a month and wait a few seconds, credits will roll by showing your town history.

Avoid Bee Stings Easily
To easily avoid being stung by a bee, simply press 'Start' and select 'Save and Continue.' This will refresh the environment and cancel the flying bees, avoiding the need to run into a building or to try and catch them. The beehive will still be on the ground after the save completes.
Avoid Triggering Beehives in Trees
To shake trees for money and furniture safely without fear of getting attacked by bees, go to the Train Station and open your train gate to visitors. Beehives will not spawn when your train gate is open.

Congratulations, you can now duplicate any item in the game!

Get Villagers' Furniture
If a neighbor of yours has a piece of furniture you want, you can get it by sending them seashells. They will begin replacing their furniture with the shells and their furniture will appear at re-tail for purchase. Make sure there are empty flea-market spaces, though.

Balloon Frequencies
Whenever the time on the clock ends in 4 (i.e. 12:34 or 8:54), a balloon may appear on one of the sides your town. This means you can get up to 6 balloon presents an hour. You must be outside for the balloon to appear.

Cliff Diving
It's possible to perform cliff dives straight from your town and into the ocean. Look carefully for a section of the cliff that doesn't have any beach area beneath it. Stand near the edge, equip the Wet Suit, and press the A button. Your character will jump off the cliff and land in the water below. Also, if your having a bad day or have a King Tut mask, you can jump in to rivers. How? I'll tell you. Find a corner to the river. make 2 holes and make sure they are one hole apart. Right now, you cant get in. So put a item in either one. Then go in the middle, turn around without moving, then dig it out. While your character shows you what you dug up, the back round will start to glitch and shake around. Put the item back and you will start. Then, you run at a angle which makes dust particles at your feat (Remember, you have to have a King Tut mask or be having a bad day to trip). Then you will trip in to the river, and you will be able to walk around in the river just like your on the ground (No water particles will appear). Warning: If you walk on the sides or up a bridge, you will do a magic jump up onto the ground or bridge.
Easier bug and fish catching!
When hunting for a certain type of catch, such as sharks or palm tree bugs, this trick will help. Search the area where you are looking for the creature, and if it isn't there hit start and save, but continue playing. This will reset the bug and fish spawns in your game, and it only takes a few seconds.

Extra item space
Whenever you're full of items in your inventory, you can store your items inside letters, preventing you from having to come back to get whatever you missed. This gives you 10 extra item spaces, handy for selling your bug/fish load from the island.
Hit Balloon Presents with Net
If ballooned presents come from the coastal side of town, go to the cliff the rest of town is on. Before the balloon reaches the cliff, hit it with your net. Also, if the present comes from the other side of the town, as the balloon reaches the cliff it will lower allowing you to hit as well.
Skip Kapp'n's Song
While traveling to or from the Tropical Resort, while Kapp'n is singing tap the the B button rapidly. He'll suddenly stop singing and say a few things and then drop you off. This saves a lot of time.
Time Travelling
You can change the time and date in your town on the New Leaf main menu screen before you enter your village. You can change the date and time to manipulate what Bugs and Fish are available, make Bells by appreciating your bank deposits over the new year lapse (You recieve interest returns in your bank account), or skip ahead to force house expansions. Time Traveling is technically cheating, but people still exploit it to get ahead in the game.
