Chains of Fate is an action adventure platform game with some RPG elements.
The gameplay is generally fast paced and the combat consists of killing enemies with one of three basic attacks in rapid succession combined with the player's skills, which can produce some interesting attack combos.
Skills are acquired as the player progresses in the game adding new gameplay options as they get closer to the end. There are also items that the player can find that permanently increase their statistics. The game is made using the impact game engine, which uses JavaScript and HTML 5.
I am also making use of local storage to auto save the players progress, so if you complete a level you are automatically on the next level, and when you get an item or skill, it instantly saves using local storage. CoF will be receiving some content updates such as replaying specific levels, different game modes, graphics options, and difficulty options, but not until after I release the base game.
The game will be for sale in the Chrome Web Store for $1.99, any updates that I make to the game will be free. I do have plans for adding more levels and even more weapons and skills as well.
The storyline follows a woman named Cira who the player will find out is an assassin that has been pulled out of reality for reasons unknown to her. She learns this from a mysterious entity known as Shade. Shade often gives the player instructions but rarely reveals anything important. Shade often messes with the player or says things to get to Cira.
It is unclear to Cira if shade can be trusted. At the moment there are plans for a sequel after the first game is released and it has been updated a few times. The sequel will explain more about the first game and it will also feature 4 player co-op using web sockets. (the sequel is going to be in the style of a beat-em up game but with RPG elements and very intense combat)
