Demon-Hunting Action RPG arriving on Steam for Macs and PCs. Spicy Horse Games, makers of "Alice: Madness Returns," "BigHead BASH," and "American McGee's Grimm" announced today that "Akaneiro: Demon Hunters" had been selected in the latest round of Steam Greenlight for inclusion on Steam.
Based on the Little Red Riding Hood story combined with Japanese folklore and myth, and illustrated in Spicy Horse's unique dark fantasy style, "Akaneiro: Demon Hunters" is an action-RPG that lets players hunt legendary monsters in Edo-era Japan. The Steam version of the game will include Mac and PC versions and, if the now-running Kickstarter hits its stretch goals, a Linux version will also be available.
In celebration of the game's arrival on Steam, the Spicy Horse team has added a spirit pet known as Karakuri Gaben, inspired by the legendary head of Valve Software, to its Kickstarter rewards. Players eager to have their own Karakuri Gaben need only pledge in the $30 or more reward tier and, should the Kickstarter be successful, they will be granted the pet as well as all previous reward tiers.
"Akaneiro: Demon Hunters" is currently in Open Beta, with an anticipated launch this month on Steam and for the web.
Akaneiro Kickstarter Update
As of right now, the Akaneiro: Demon Hunters Kickstarter is over $80,000 with 18 days to go. New reward tiers include the amazing Karakuri Gaben as seen above, a few very-limited Teapot Cannons, and a few remaining autographed copies of Alice: Madness Returns for PS3 and Xbox 360.
