The Amazing Spider-Man is in development at veteran game studio Beenox, and features an original narrative crafted by Hollywood writer Seamus Kevin Fahey ( episodes of Spartacus: Gods of the Arena and the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica) that continues young Peter Parker’s adventures following the events of the new film.
Using the game’s new Web Rush mechanic allows players to pull off a vast array of moves never before possible. With a story that takes players through many areas all over (and under) Manhattan, fans will feel what it’s truly like to be a Super Hero, as they experience the cinematic adrenaline rush of web-swinging through the city and fighting crime using Spider-Man’s spectacular acrobatic moves and attacks.
Retailers including Amazon.co.uk and GAME will be selling exclusive content to buyers who pre-order the title before release.
When purchasing from Amazon.co.uk, players will be able to access 'The Rhino Challenge', where they can control the genetically-engineered and rampaging villain Rhino around Manhattan. The added content includes a timed event which focuses on speed, combo streaks and destruction.
From GAME, Stan Lee will become a playable character in 'The Stan Lee Adventure Pack', which features a mission where the comics creator must collect pages of his latest script using Spider-Man's abilities.
The mission, taking place around Manhattan, is also said to include a "special surprise" at the end.
Lastly, buying from independent retailers will unlock the 'Oscorp Search & Destroy Pack', where there will be two arcade-inspired minigames available to play on Spider-Man's in-game smartphone.
The Amazing Spider-Man video game will launch on June 26 to coincide with the release of the film of the same name starring Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone.
