We Sing goes Platinum Wii karaoke titles have surpassed a million sales

The lifetime sales of Nordic Games’ brilliant series of Wii karaoke titles have surpassed a million units worldwide, Nordic Games has unveiled.

The figure – which has revealed last night at a lavish London party celebrating the milestone – comes two weeks after the launch of We Sing Rock!, the seventh title in the series.

The party was attended by over 300 from the games, music and media industries - who were treated to spectacular "rockeoke" performances. X-Factor start Kitty Brucknell was also in attendance, showcasing her unique voice and being joined on stage by lucky attendees.

“Whilst these figures may not be in the same league as Modern Warfare 3, we’re nonetheless extremely proud of them,” says Nik Blower, sales and marketing director at Nordic Games. “The original We Sing was the first entry into the Wii karaoke market, and we’ve made that market our own, despite tough competition. These are exciting times for the series – we’ve recently branched out into Dance, and continue to look at fresh opportunities. There’s no doubt that this first million milestone will not be our last.

“2012 will prove to be another year of We Sing growth. Despite the perception the market is in decline, We Sing’s audience remains healthy and loyal, and we’ll soon be announcing exciting new developments for the series. For now, we’d like to raise a glass to our fans and thank them for their support.”

We Sing launched in November 2009, offering 30 classic tracks and the ability for four players to sing co-operatively or competitively won it a huge army of fans. We Sing Encore launched in August 2011, upping the total songs to 40 and introducing a new singing tutor mode. We Sing Robbie Williams followed at the end of 2011, bringing the popular entertainer’s greatest hits into the We Sing family. We Sing UK Hits and We Sing Rock! complete the UK releases – though two more regional specific versions have also been produced: We Sing Down Under and We Sing Deutsche Hits.
