The principle is simple: sign up alone or with friends and take part in balanced PvP battles in teams of three. The server will find opponents who match your team's level (and allies, if you have signed up alone or in a pair). The Kolossium is also the name of the imposing building which rises up at the heart of the Cania Massif. This is the building in which you can find the NPCs who will offer rewards following your Kolossium fights.
If you want to take part in a Kolossium fight, it couldn't be simpler! If you match the participation criteria (subscribed and level 50 or above), all you need to do is open the Kolossium interface and click on "registration". You can register alone or form a Kolossium group of two (a third member will be found by the Kolossium) or three.
The creation of a group for the Kolossium, which will benefit from a new, specially designed interface, works in the same way as the creation of a traditional group - you just need to click on the person you want to invite and then "Invite to the Kolossium". Once you've signed up, the server will take care of everything! It will complete your group (if necessary) and then find a team of adversaries who match your level and strength, so that you'll have a fair fight. Besides the minimum level criterion, team balancing is based on a brand new system: character ratings (values which develop according to characters' records of wins and losses).
Whilst the server is searching for opponents for you, you can keep playing normally: fighting, breeding, crafting or travelling by Zaap - whatever you like. Your registration will only be cancelled if you enter a dungeon or attack another character. When the server has found a group for you to fight, a notification will appear on all six concerned players' screens. If all six validate the fight, you will all be automatically teleported to your Kolossium fight. If you were in the middle of fighting, you will leave the fight without losing energy. If a player declines the fight or fails to validate the notification, he will be barred from Kolossium registration for 15 minutes and the other five players will return directly to the waiting list.
Each fight will place on a World of Twelve map chosen randomly from a selection of maps adapted to PvP combat. At the end of the fight, the six participants will be teleported again, this time back to the map they were on before starting the Kolossium fight, with all their health points intact and no energy lost, even if they were defeated.
Kolossium Winnings
There are two main rewards for fighting in the Kolossium:
- Experience. Fighters receive experience for all the fights they win. The amount of experience won is calculated separately for each character and will depend on their rating. These experience gains are not affected by players' wisdom, but they can be shared with guilds and/or mounts.
- Kolossokens. For every battle won, characters receive 1% of their rating value in Kolossokens. As well as this reward, which is granted immediately after each fight, characters will also receive a daily reward which is equal to 10% of their maximum rating from the previous day - provided they took part in at least one Kolossium fight that day.
Kolossokens are tokens (quest items) which enable characters to buy resources, as well as two emotes from the NPC Glad Yator. The resources are essential for the manufacture of perfect soul stones and, even more importantly, of trophies.
Trophies
Trophies are new items which can be equipped in the same slots as Dofus. These trophies allow you to improve a very specific characteristic (AP/MP Reduction/Dodge, fixed damage in a certain element, resistance in a certain element, Lock, Dodge, etc.). For each type of trophy, there are three levels of power. You can't equip the same trophy twice, but you can collect two (or even three) trophies of the same type but with different power levels. The trophies will enable players to take a big step in the optimisation of their characters, by allowing them to improve very precise characteristics and quickly adapt their style of play to counter that of their opponents.
The trophies can be created by Shield Smiths out of various resources associated with the three resources (which correspond to the three power levels: minor, normal and major) which you can get by exchanging your Kolossokens.
What's more, the trophies each have a rating condition (which varies according to the trophy's power) which must be fulfilled for them to be equipped. You'll have to take part in the Kolossium and win enough of your fights to reach the rating needed to benefit from your trophies!
