Kinect gets Windows SDK beta - download now - PC

The time has arrived for all PC Kinect developers to download the Kinect for Windows Software Development Kit from Microsoft.

The SDK (Software developers Kit) allows free access to Kinect's features, with motion tracking and voice recognition.

"The Kinect for Windows SDK opens up a world of possibilities to developers who want to unleash the power of Kinect technology on Windows. We can't wait to see what this community will create as we work together to build more natural, intuitive computing experiences," said Microsoft's Anoop Gupta.

The Kinect SDK uses C++, C# or Visual Basic on Microsoft Visual Studio 2010, and includes features like skeletal tracking and raw sensor streams.
