Combat Arms Europe celebrates three million virtual solders with the release of a new Special Forces playground - Black Gold

Since starting the European service of Combat Arms early 2009, NEXON Europe was able to recruit over 3 million soldiers to play on their virtual battlefields. Surpassing this milestone in the European territories, Combat Arms now has an army of 10 million soldiers worldwide including North America and Brazil. To celebrate this accomplishment, NEXON Europe today releases its newest Special Forces playground! Created by the French Combat Arms player and illustrator “FractalShot” during a recently finished global community contest, “Oil Rig” adds one of the most iconic maps to NEXONs premier free2play FPS.

The Managing Director of NEXON Europe, Mr. Sung Jin Kim, is delighted to welcome over 3 million soldiers in the European Combat Arms army: “We are very satisfied on how well Combat Arms was received by the European gamers and the way it establishes among the FPS community here. There are a lot of gifted players populating our servers in Europe that are making our game even more challenging and entertaining than it ever was. The community is still growing and we are planning constant updates to keep our soldiers on guard. But we are also thankful for the great feedback and response we got from our players in Europe – especially, if it is such great effort as FractalShots’ map.”

“Oil Rig” will put soldiers to the limit! Send in to recover stolen government funds, Special Forces are soon being faced by gritty firefights on dangerous surface. An abandoned offshore oil platform sets the scene for thrilling PvP duels with limited space only. Every step must be taken carefully to neither fall off the imminent edge nor get into the line of fire. Designed by a French Combat Arms player, the map made it through the polls to finally achieve most votes and was implemented by the Combat Arms development team.

“FractalShot”, creator of “Oil Rig” and passionate Combat Arms player feels proud to be a part of the game from now on: “I totally liked the idea of creating a map for one of my favorite games and as a comic artist; I spend a lot of time drawing. But after seeing all those awesome 3D maps that were submitted, I really didn’t think that I would win. So I just posted my map idea on the forum and never checked back. Watching the render video of Oil Rig only a few weeks ago, I first learned that my map is going to be included in the game. That was an absolutely awesome moment for me. To allow a player to design content for one of his favorite games is simply unbelievable. It was a lot of fun and I hope that all Combat Arms players will enjoy my map!”
