Are Google about to move into video games big time?

Reports that Johnny Chung, the man behind Microsoft's Kinect Xbox control system, has jumped ship to Google raise speculation that the internet giant is moving into the video game business big time.

Google, according to the Wall Street Journal, are working on a 'Facebook' like social networking service that will offer video games like the highly successful 'Farmville' and 'Mafia Wars'.

Google have so many fingers in the internet pie - they are also working on Google TV and their own operation system, both could use some kind of human interface like Kinect device.

How this will leave Microsoft, losing a main Kinect player at a time when they are said to be working on a PC version of Kinect, (see yesterday's gamezplay post) who knows. Meanwhile Microsoft are busy celebration selling over 8 million Kinects.

The Cr-48 device, Google have planned, may also benfit from Chung's appointment. The company could be looking at a better control system for future devices.
