Happylatte, a Beijing-based game design studio, announce that High Noon, its popular free-to-play massively multiplayer online Western dueling game, has been highlighted as a top 10 grossing game of the year in 61 countries by Apple.
In celebration, High Noon is releasing a Christmas “Snowdown” edition of the game and hosting a shootout tournament with in-game rewards and a chance to win an iPad.Released in April 2010, High Noon is a free-to-play massively multiplayer online dueling game where players battle opponents from around the world to become the top gunslinger on the planet. Friends and foes challenge each other to one minute duels and compete in tongue-in-cheek Spaghetti Western fashion. Dueling involves physically “holstering” the iPhone at the hip, drawing it at the sound of a gong, and attempting to quickly gun down an opponent, aiming with the accelerometer. An arsenal of weapons and items, such as lassos, whiskey and silver bullets, give players a variety of ways to fight.
The game has been downloaded almost 2 million times and was recently highlighted as a top 10 grossing game of the year in 61 countries by Apple in its App Rewind 2010 lists. “We are flattered by the recognition of High Noon all around the world,” says Happylatte Managing Director Bjorn Stabell, “It has motivated us to continue expanding the High Noon world, and to bring it to other platforms such as Facebook.”
With the “Snowdown” release, players of High Noon can challenge friends and enemies to gunslinging action set in a snowy holiday backdrop, and, with added Game Center integration, it’s even easier to find those friends and pump them full of lead. To keep the holiday spirit going, Happylatte is upping the stakes with free giveways and competitions. Top players in the highly competitive battle will win special in-game bonuses and have a chance to win a new iPad.
