Blitz Arcade, the downloadable games division of Blitz Games Studios, is now a Guinness World Record holder for the first video game to use stereoscopic polarised 3D. Invincible Tiger: The Legend of Han Tao, published by Namco Bandai for XBLA and PSN in August 2009 was developed by Blitz Arcade using Blitz’s proprietary technology, BlitzTech. Research into 3D integration started back in 2006, with Blitz CTO Andrew Oliver an early proponent of the S3D movement.

The award comes as Invincible Tiger celebrates a year since launch in August 2009. A 70s Kung-Fu movie-style side-scroller that follows the eponymous hero as he battles across ancient China to reclaim the Star of Destiny, Invincible Tiger is an excellent 2D experience in its own right but was also the world’s first console game to provide players with the option of stereoscopic 3D, where crisp and clear 3D depth of field can be viewed without sacrificing colour or clarity. The game also includes anaglyph 3D, which is compatible with any TV and a pair of standard anaglyph glasses.
