Since its launch in December 2006 the Nintendo Wii video game console has become the fastest selling system in the UK with six million sold.
Nintendo can take some hope in these figures after a disappointing last few months that has seen the Nintendo Wii price drop.
The Nintendo Wii appeals to the family end of the video game market with Wii Fit becoming a favourite seller. I wonder how many are still being used after the first couple of weeks? Most may be in the room with the exercise bike and the diet books...
The Wii has come in for some criticism for the lack of top quality 'hard core' games and I have to agree compared to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 games they don't come close. The graphics can't compete and Nintendo support in the UK is lousy. I have supported their various platforms for years and on several occasion have been disappointed with the UK support.
Recently they removed 10,000 points from my Nintendo account because I didn't use them in time! Every time I went to buy anything the best items were never in stock! Do they not realise how much Nintendo gear I had to buy to gain those points?
My first Wii was damaged when a memory card from Animal Crossing couldn't be removed the console was a week old and Nintendo didn't want to know.
I now have two Wii consoles and Wii Fit and yes the balance board is in the cupboard!
