Bejeweled Twist video game for Nintendo DSiWare All-New Multiplayer Capabilities

Bejeweled Twist video gameRevolutionary Bejeweled Game Delivers Fun, Depth, Value and All-New Multiplayer Capabilities.

PopCap Games, announce the launch of Bejeweled Twist for Nintendo DSiWare. Derived from the latest instalment in the award-winning Bejeweled franchise, this new adaptation of the revolutionary, top-selling PC game marks the first time Bejeweled Twist has been offered on any video game console.

Bejeweled Twist is PopCap’s second DSiWare title following Bookworm, which launched earlier this month. Both games feature unusually deep gameplay in a downloadable title for the Nintendo DSiWare platform. Bejeweled Twist is available now at Nintendo’s online shop for only 500 DSi Points (U.S. $5.00).

“Bejeweled Twist is a novel take on the match-3 puzzler, and this adaptation of the game for DSiWare was a superb opportunity to simultaneously retain the ‘fun’ element of Bejeweled Twist and to take the game into a new direction that is perfect for the DSiWare system,” said Ed Allard, vice president of strategic development at PopCap. “Players are going to love the depth of this strategic game, the price point, immediate availability over the air, and the challenging new multiplayer capabilities.”

Bejeweled Twist was originally released to critical acclaim in October 2008, revolutionizing the award-winning Bejeweled franchise with its new "twist" on the traditional match-3 format that PopCap pioneered almost ten years ago. In the game, players rotate 2x2 blocks of gems to create a line of three or more gems of the same type. They don’t have to make a match on every move – instead they can freely rotate gems anywhere on the board, allowing increased strategic freedom to plan combinations, cascades and chains of various matches.

The Nintendo DSiWare adaptation of Bejeweled Twist features non-stop action and infinite replayability throughout two dynamic game modes - Classic and the multiplayer Battle mode. Classic mode bedazzles players with a host of power-ups, including Flame, Lightning and Fruit gems that produce fiery explosions and other powerful effects. Players will also encounter obstacles such as Bomb and Locked gems as well as Doom gems that challenge them as never before. In the multiplayer Battle mode, gamers can play against one another over the DS Wireless Communications network.
