Platypus video game comes to Xbox 360 popular claymation side-scrolling shooter.

Developed originally for the PC by Anthony Flack, Platypus garnered many fans, not to mention various conversions to the iPhone and PSP, as well as a sequel. The secret of its success?

It’s made entirely out of clay! Yes, each ship and bullet has been lovingly hand-crafted from clay just like Wallace and Gromit and photographed to create a charming and visually unique game.

“With the Xbox360 version, we believe we have created the definitive version of Platypus that will attract new and old players alike.” says Escapist Games founder and director, Chris Walley. “For the first time you’ll be able to play Platypus how it was always meant to be played: co-operatively with your buddies on a big widescreen TV. It’s a blast! Even my wife enjoys it!”

Naturally, this new version of Platypus features enhanced hi-definition graphics and audio: the game now looks and sounds better than it’s ever done. The gameplay, thankfully, stays true to the original. Comprising of 4 levels, each split into 5 areas, there’s plenty of plasticine enemies to shoot down, power-ups to grab and squishy end of level bosses to.. well.. squish.

Expect Platypus to hit the Xbox Live Indie games store within the next few weeks.
