Microsoft To Bring Social Networking Update To Xbox Live

Microsoft is all set to roll out a bunch of social networking and music apps for its Xbox gaming platform including apps for Twitter and Facebook and it is also inviting users to beta test its Xbox Live Update preview.

Though Microsoft is not promising every one who signs up for the preview program, a chance to test the new apps, it is likely to give preference to Xbox Live Gold subscribers.

For signing up to the preview, you need to have a Windows LIVE id which has to be linked to your Xbox LIVE Gamertag and after that you will need to enter the 12-digit console identification number of your Xbox console.

Besides coming out with new apps, Microsoft is working hard to bring in more users to its gaming platform and it has signed a deal with satellite television major Sky TV which will allow Xbox users to watch television programs offered by the network from their console.

The pricing details of the new service are yet to be made public; however it is known that initially around 22 channels are expected to be available when the service goes live later this month end, though more channels are likely to be added in a progressive manner.
