SEGA report loss after disappointing year
Sales for the year ended at £2.32 billion compared to £2.62 billion in the year. As a result the company made an operating loss of £28.92 million last year it made an operating profit of £386.47 million.
SEGA confirmed that it has dropped plans to develop a new amusement centre in Yokohama. The company also confirmed that it has dissolved SEGA Amusements Singapore and Korea as a means to reviewing its operations.
Continuing uncertainty surrounding the Pachinko parlour business suggests the Japanese company will face a difficult year. The company suggests it will generate revenue in the consumer business by selling licensed film titles overseas and focus on a revision of its Japanese line-up.
For the year ended March 31st 2009, SEGA-Sammy predicts net sales to reach £2.37 billion, representing almost a 3% increase.
