Players will be able to enjoy the all new exhilarating action in the first "Gears of War 2" downloadable content mere hours following its exclusive premiere during the SPIKE TV Video Game Award.
More than 1.5 million people were drawn to “Gears of War 2” on Xbox LIVE during its first weekend, logging over 15 million gameplay hours and driving a new record for concurrent users. Now, the online experience has become even more explosive with the release of the Combustible Map Pack, a collection of three new maps for “Gears of War 2” available now on Xbox LIVE Marketplace for 800 MS Points.
Debuted during the SPIKE TV Video Game Awards on Dec. 14, where “Gears of War 2” took home the Best Shooter and Best Xbox 360 Game awards, Microsoft Game Studios and Epic Games unveiled exclusive footage from the Combustible Map Pack with Marisa Miller (Sports Illustrated’s 2008 Swimsuit Issue cover model) and “Gears of War 2’s” Augustus “Cole Train” Cole (played by Lester Speight) presenting the first look at the new maps.
The Combustible Map Pack unleashes three new multiplayer maps: Flood, Gold Rush and Fuel Station.
• Floodis a very tight map that's made extra snug when the environmental hazard of Imulsion begins creeping up around the edges. As the playing field closes in, the firefight will intensify as combat is forced to the center of the map. Teams skilled at flanking their opponents will have a powerful edge.
• Gold Rush takes place in an old Imulsion refinery that now serves as a hotly contested battleground. Players must survive heavy crossfire as they infiltrate the factory and navigate multiple tiers. Breakable glass allows for a clean shot at those who make a dash for the Longshot rifle while bolder players make their run for the heavy weapon. In the right hands, the Mortar can be devastating on this map, so keep those smoke grenades armed as the concussive effect comes in very handy.
• Fuel Station is situated in a desolate area marked by an abandoned fossil fuel station. The team that secures and controls the station is likely to be the side that wins the match. An especially strategic location on this map is the rooftop, as there are only two points of entry – the main elevator and a staircase on the back side of the building. Heavy weaponry is situated right in front, which presents a high risk to reward ratio in this level. Lugging the Mulcher around, deploying it and revving it up can keep an entire team at bay, and unleashing hell from the rooftops is always an excellent tactic.
All of the multiplayer maps in the Combustible Map Pack are playable in the highly popular, five player co-op Horde mode.
“Gears of War 2” is the best-selling console game in the US (November NPD data) and has been named the 'best Xbox 360 game ever' by GamePro magazine. “Gears of War 2” is available exclusively on Xbox 360 and is rated “18’’ by the BBFC.

System 3 today announced the development of SuperCar Challenge for the PlayStation 3, a high-octane racing game featuring both arcade and simulation tarmac thrills.
Building on the critically acclaimed Ferrari Challenge racing simulation engine, SuperCar Challenge heralds the addition of the sexiest supercars on the planet while improving on its spiritual prequel in every way.
Over 40 cars will be available to throw around the most celebrated corners on the racing calendar. Experience the thrills and spills that come with harnessing the full grunt of an Aston Martin DB9, the Lamborghini Murcielago RGT, the McLaren F1 and many more! Of course, the game caters for the Ferrari fans too with a selection of favourites making the cut from 2008’s Ferrari Challenge.
More than 20 tracks will also be available, with old favourites such as Silverstone and Spa mixed in with the joys of N¸rbergring. More new tracks will be announced over the coming months.
Eyes Wide Shut
Players young and old, veteran or novice will be able to enjoy the look and feel of a real supercar thanks to brand new additions to the handling modes, with the ultimate aim being to graduate players through to full simulation handling.
Assist Mode
Race with all the assists switched onto full. An amazing way to learn how to drive a supercar and learn the track, but also just great fun. Tear around a track without fear of screwing things up because you forgot to break at just the right time. This makes the game accessible to so many more people and will even see your gran cruising around Silverstone on a Sunday afternoon with a smile on her face!
Arcade
The power of a supercar with forgiving handling and more powerful brakes. Performance off road will be less but nowhere near as much as in Simulation mode. Breaking into corners and accelerating out of corners is far more straightforward and there’s no need to worry about spinning out all the time. You can REALLY throw your car around a corner and have fun whilst doing it. Don’t forget though – your opponents will be just as aggressive!
Simulation
The critically acclaimed handling returns. Drop your concentration for one second and it could mean you’re out of the race! For the hardcore simulation fans only, albeit with the option to change any of the assist settings.
Gimme A Break!
Your opponents’ artificial intelligence has also been completely rewritten with a brand new Dynamic AI setting allowing the game to change the challenge you receive based on how well or badly your career is going. Of course, if you fancy a real challenge you can always set the AI to Legendary… strap yourselves in tightly though because it won’t be an easy ride!
SuperCar Challenge
The Facts
- Over 40 different cars ranging from the Lamborghini Murcielago RGT, to the Aston Martin DB9, to the McLaren F1, to our previous favourite the Ferrari FXX. - Over 20 tracks, from favourites such as Silverstone and Nurburgring to less well known greats such as Mugello Italy. - Trophy mode, Career mode (more details to be announced soon), Arcade mode, Quick Race and 16-player online/LAN multiplayer. - Ferrari Challenge’s praised livery creation tool has been taken and improved considerably. - Dynamic AI: rival drivers will get better or worse depending on how you race so you’ll always have a decent challenge going on around you. Of course, should you wish to have consistent AI you can switch this mode off. - Graphical overhaul: in terms of textures, poly counts, scenery, backdrops, particle effects and (perhaps most importantly) framerate, everything has been improved. - Improved sound: every engine rev, screech and impact has been tirelessly recorded and re-recorded on the field. An abducted soul, a lifetime of sins, a journey to the depths of despair. EA announced today that EA Redwood Shores, the studio behind hit horror game Dead Space, is making Dante’s Inferno – a third-person action adventure adaptation of the medieval epic poem The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri. The dark fiction gave birth to the Tuscan Italian dialect and is widely considered to have defined the western world’s contemporary conception of hell and purgatory. The poem tells the tale of Dante who journeys through the twisted, menacing nine circles of hell in pursuit of his beloved Beatrice.
Written in the 14th Century, The Divine Comedy was published and read aloud in Italian (unlike the Bible), thereby making the poem accessible to the mass public. The poem delivers a striking and allegorical vision of the Christian afterlife and the punishments of hell. In part one, known as Dante’s Inferno, Dante traverses all nine circles of hell; limbo, lust, gluttony, greed, wrath, heresy, violence, fraud and treachery.
“The time is right for the world of interactive entertainment to adapt this literary masterpiece, and to re-introduce Dante to an audience that, until now, may have been unfamiliar with the remarkable details of this great work of art,” said Jonathan Knight, executive producer for Dante’s Inferno. “It’s the perfect opportunity to fuse great gameplay with great story.”
To get easy money, all you have to do is set the GameCube's internal clock to New Year's Day. Every New Year, your parents will send you a gift of 10,000 bells. Set the clock to a different year (after saving, of course) and you will get another bag with 10,000 bells.
Bee Courageous
You've done it before -- you've shaken a couple of trees to find some cash, and out comes a whole swarm of bees and does a "remodeling" job on your face... Painful. But did you know that you can actually catch the bees and make some money? It's a bit tricky as the bees move fast, but after you've shaken a tree and a bee's hive has fallen out, immediately switch to the butterfly net and turn towards the hive. Time it right and hit the button and you will catch a single bee, worth 4,500 bucks. Not bad, huh? There are three swarms of bees hidden on the map every day, so you can make some big bucks if you go bee hunting.
Feng-Shui Mysteries
Are you familiar with the ancient art of Feng-Shui? Who would have guessed that it even applies to Nintendo's Animal Crossing? It's all about how you arrange your furniture in your house.
Orange colored furniture in the North Yellow furniture in the West Red furniture in the East Green furniture in the South What does this do? It increases your chances with getting lots of cash and items -- so try to use Feng-Shui whenever possible.
Get Rich Quick with your GBA
If you've got a GBA and the GameCube Link Cable, you can access an island to the south of Animal Crossing that lets you make money much more quickly. Collect as many pieces of fruit as you can carry, hook up your GBA, turn it on, and then go to the pier at the beach (all the way in the south). A lad named Kapp'n will be waiting here in his boat (he only shows up if your GBA is switched on) and take you to the island. Once you're on the island, drop all the fruit you have collected and go back to the boat. Tell Kapp'n that you want to leave and that you want to transfer the island to your GBA. Your GBA will turn on and you will have see your island, complete with all the fruit you have dropped. Move your hand to the door of your island animal's house and knock. Your animal will come out. Now grab a piece of fruit and put it right in front of your animal. It will eat the fruit and turn happy. After a few pieces of fruit your animal will drop a money bag of random size for each fruit you feed to your little virtual pet. Repeat this process until all pieces of fruit are gone (you can also direct your pet to shake trees to get more fruit), then put your GBA to sleep. Do NOT switch it off. Go back to the GameCube game. Once back in your town, leave the screen with the boat and come back. Talk to the Kapp'n again and the GCN game will be updated with the new data from the GBA island. Travel back to the island and collect all the money bags. Some bags contain as much as 30,000 coins! You should be able to pay off your house in no time now.
Grow a Money Tree
Did you know that besides growing fruit trees, you can also grow money trees? Yep, no joke. However, you can't just grow them anywhere. Find a sparkly glowing spot on the ground (the type that hints at a hidden treasure) and use the shovel to unearth the money bag. Instead of just pocketing the money and closing the hole, stand in front of it, go into your inventory and select the money bag. Now choose the "plant item in ground" option that you also use to sow seeds or fruit and put the bag back into the sparkly spot in the ground. A seedling will sprout, which will grow into a money-bearing tree. Nice, huh? Note that planting a money bag just anywhere will not produce a money tree. It has to be planted in the sparkly special spot.
Reset Follies
Don't ever hit the reset switch when playing this game. If you do, the next time you play you will be chastized by Mr. Resetti, an angry mole. He will lecture you on how there is no reset button in real life -- so you shouldn't use it in this game either. Mr. Reset's rant takes quite a while to get through, but that's nothing compared to what happens when you hit reset again... His complaints will get longer and longer and he will even force you to apologize (which requires you to manually enter your apology via the on-screen keyboard). Not fun. So stay away from the reset switch unless you want a good laugh.
Win NES Games
Animal Crossing features an even bigger variety of NES games than its N64 counterpart. You have to be lucky to get your hands on them though. There are several ways to get new games:
Be the first. The first player to start a character on the included Animal Crossing Memory Card will receive a letter from Nintendo after all initial chores are done. The letter includes a grab bag with three items, two of which are NES games. To move a present attached to a letter to your inventory, align your cursor on top of the letter, then press L to grab it. Drag it to the inventory, then click on it with A and select "Open Present". To open the grab bag that's inside, simply select it with A when you're OUTSIDE a building. Do not try to open bags inside your house. It won't work. Enter the monthly lottery at the Tanuki Store on the last day of the month. You get a lottery ticket for every major purchase you make at the store (stationary and plants don't count). Every five tickets let you play in the lottery once, so be sure to collect a bunch of them. Note that lottery tickets don't carry over to the next month. They're only good for the current month. Prizes in the lottery vary from month to month, so don't give up if you don't find any NES games the first time you enter the lottery. Check your mailbox on Christmas Eve. Every player gets an NES game as a Christmas present. Get a game for your birthday. Don't only ask animals if you can run chores for them -- use the second "conversation" option as well. At one point, one of your animals will ask you for your birthday and blood type. This animal will drop by your house on your birthday and personally deliver a new NES game. Have your Animal Island villager dig. Leave him your shovel, then bribe him with fruit later if he finds a game. There are other ways to get your hands on emulated classics, so keep your eyes and ears open.
Golden Axe
Check the Wishing Well every day for 15 days and get a consistently great rating. To do this, you'll have to have the right mix of trees in each acre, pull out weeds, avoid littering, and have plenty of flowers. If you pull this off, visit the Wishing Well to meet the lucky spirit Farley, who will hand over the Golden Axe that never breaks.
Golden Fishing Rod
To get an item that will make fishing so much easier, catch all 40 types of fish. Not only will you get a cool Weathervane trophy on top of your house, the mayor will give you the Golden Fishing Rod to match your shovel.
Golden Net
Catch all 40 types of insects to get your hands on the Golden Net, a better version of the regular net that'll help you catch more insects easier. You will also get a Butterfly sign on your house that shows off your bug catching skills.
Golden Shovel
You can produce a Golden Shovel the same way you plant a money tree. Buy an extra shovel, find a sparkle spot, dig out the money bag, stand right in front of it and select the shovel. Pick "bury" and the shovel will be planted in the ground and a sapling will pop up. If the spot is good, a golden tree will grow that will produce a Golden Shovel instead of fruit. The Golden Shovel will unearth money bags at random when you dig in the ground.
Magic Rock
Every day, one rock in your village will turn into a treasure rock. Walk up to a rock and hit it with your shovel. If it turns red, quickly hit it again -- up to seven times if you're fast enough. Each time, a money bag will come flying out. The first few bags will be 100 Bell bags, but soon you'll hear the Mario extra life chime -- which means these bags contain 1,000 Bell. After the rock changes color again, it goes back to being a regular rock.
Secret K.K. Slider Songs
There are three secret songs in Animal Crossing that Totakeke won't play unless you request them. They are:
I Love You K.K. Song Two Days Ago
Easy Money
Dig up the stars with your shovel and send them to the far away museum, when you get a response back, get your fossil and sell it to Mr.Nook for big bucks!
