Namco Bandai invites Facebook users to compete in Brain Olympiad

Leading mobile game publisher, Namco Bandai Networks Europe, has today offered mobile users both young and old a new, fun and competitive way of improving their mental agility. More Brain Exercise with Dr. Kawashima, introduces a whole new range of challenging games officially tested by Dr. Kawashima, and proven to stimulate different parts of the brain (temporal lobe, parietal lobe, and frontal lobe) to keep the mind awake and active. In a move which promises to inject the genre with a new competitive streak, users of the game can also upload their More Brain Exercise™ scores to an online ranking system and compare their results with other brain training addicts around the world. Facebook users can also track their ranking and represent their country in the Facebook Brain Olympiad, also announced today.
More Brain Exercise with Dr. Kawashima features fifteen new brain training games, five of which are used to measure brain age, as well as bonus games and additional functionality. Users can choose to evaluate their brain age, follow the daily brain training programme, or play additional games from the brain training selection. Up to three different profiles can be stored in the game so users can challenge their friends to compete using the same handset.
As a bonus feature, More Brain Exercise with Dr. Kawashima features a selection of Sudoku puzzles for players to enjoy on the move.

Users of the game can track their progress by regularly re-testing their brain age and the game will also rank them as anything from a cell to the universe (the larger the object, the better), passing by dog, human, giraffe and dinosaur to name just a few in between. Full profile information is recorded on the handset, including the user’s highest rank and statistics showing frontal, temporal and parietal lobe performance over days and weeks of training.

To celebrate the launch of More Brain Exercise with Dr. Kawashima for the mobile platform, Namco Bandai has also developed a More Brain Exercise web site, viral game and Facebook application. The online More Brain Exercise brings a selection of four brain training games to internet users, allowing them to compare their scores with others and undertake a limited brain training programme. For those who are bitten by the training bug, links from the online game will allow users to purchase and download the full mobile version of the game* direct to their handset. More details can be found at www.morebrainexercise.com.

“It’s around this time of year that many of us start to make resolutions to improve our health and wellbeing,” commented Barry O’Neill, President of Namco Bandai Networks Europe. “Many people will sign up for a gym membership but neglect their brains. This game will allow users to raise a mental sweat to truly get in shape for 2009.”

The global rankings and Facebook application will also add a new dimension to the brain training genre. “We are calling on gamers’ competitive spirits and aim to make brain training a community and social activity,” added O’Neill. Users of the game can invite friends to try the online or full mobile game and sign up to compete in the Facebook Brain Olympiad. “Brain training has captured the public’s imagination, bringing mobile gaming to a much wider audience than hardcore games could ever reach,” concluded O’Neill. “With the Olympiad, we are simply taking this training one step further and recognising those mental ‘athletes’ who have gone for gold.”

Naked War celebrates 100k turns by switching to Free Play Mode

naked warIndie publisher Zee-3 witnessed the 100,000th turn in their highly acclaimed two-player strategy game Naked War today and to celebrate switched the game into free play mode!

As of today new players of the PC-based game, developed by veteran video game designers The Pickford Brothers, will be able to continue their free trial of the full game indefinitely, with no strings attached - previously they could only send a single Challenge (allowing one complete game) before they had to buy a subscription.

naked warIn addition, existing subscribers will now have infinite Challenge Credits, allowing them to play as many games as they like for no extra charge. Previously Naked War operated on a 'pay to play' model, where subscribers purchase a limited number of Challenge Credits which were consumed by each game played.

"We wanted to mark this landmark event in Naked War's history by doing something to say a big 'thank you' to all the subscribers, players, and members of the Naked War community that have been supporting indie development, and enjoying Naked War, for the last couple of years," said co-designer Ste Pickford.

"We also wanted to underline our continued commitment to this, our first ever indie release. When we launched, some people were nervous about joining in a game based around a subscription and server model - they didn't know if the game would be around for long, or if the servers would stay running. Well, we've been running for nearly three years now, with no sign of stopping, and we're still making changes and improvements to the game!"

Zee-3 wanted to make the game more welcoming for new players, as well as continually appealing for the games well-established fanbase.

"We have made it easier for existing players to invite their friends to play Naked War. We have removed email attachments which were falling foul of some spam filters and we have improved the website and overall experience for new players joining the Naked War community and playing the game for the first time," added Ste.
Naked War is a fun, strategic battle game for two players, available for Windows PCs. The game is played in short chunks, called turns, which are passed between players via the Zee-3 website. Each turn represents about five minutes of gameplay, and the game doesn't require both players to be online at the same time, making it the ideal coffee break activity, or game to play against friends you don't see that often.
The game is distributed exclusively online by Zee-3, and the full version of the game is completely free to download and play. Extra features and benefits are available to subscribers who pay only $19.99 for infinite Challenge Credits and extensive website stats and tracking features.

Real music game has been exhibited through G star 2008 for users who disappointed by dance game which is disguised by rhythm game. We are expecting Funny Band which put slogan "Real Music, Real Play, Real Online Band Game" will be loved by dance game to lots of users who just fall in to rhythm game.

Let's figure out the characteristic of Funny Band which is released by G Star experience session.

First of all, Funny Band is using special sound system. You can use popular songs, pop, rock, and lots of rhythm music. All of those music are separated by position of guitar, drum, keyboard, and vocal as Funny band sound source so, user can freely adjust the volume of sound. Professional musician is playing each instrument and vocal sound therefore users can listen as real and there is benefit in reserve rights so, it will receive lots of interest from publishers who are preparing rhythm game line up. Moreover, we are expecting it will be loved for participating music game. Because after now, we can share compose and editing sound which armature musician is going to do and we are going to link with UCC.

Second Characteristic is we can watch Funny Band as the first real on-line music band game.

In the past, there were several cases some of games have received favor from some users by copying music band game. However, there was no game like performing on on-line such as funny band . Especially, vocal mode, the sound is made by 3D-OZ Corp.'s original voice streaming and technology of tone recognition so everyone can have fun with high quality at karaoke.

Funny Band Online

Third, there is keynote system which has maximized the rhythm.
Key point of rhythm game is touching sense during paying the game. Funny Band is music simulation game which provides keynote system from each instrument and music book. Specially, drum and guitar, users can have illusion for playing because instruments' quality is so fantastic. Furthermore, there is a level easy, normal and hard. Also, the multi controller for conquer Europe and northern America is going to have a huge boom to users who know the touching sense in rhythm music.
Finally, there is community system that presents the factor of band.

There are lots of cases that causal games are putting 3D community space in game reason for reinforce the community factor but there is not sufficient connection so they're receiving not much attention from users. However, in case of Funny band system, it can make band in 3D world space and activate more in azit by granting band space. Also it is almost same as off-line band because of community system such as competing with other band so it can grow up so it will receive lots of affection from users.
