QuakeCon 2014 dates announced
QuakeCon will once again host thousands of gamers from across the globe for the ultimate video game festival featuring North America’s largest BYOC (Bring-Your-Own-Computer) LAN Party. QuakeCon 2014 is open to the public and attendance is FREE thanks to the support of id Software and Bethesda Softworks, the QuakeCon volunteer staff, and the 2014 event sponsors and exhibitors.

DC Universe Online shimmers in the light of the Red and Blue Lantern Corps
The ninth DLC pack "War of the Light – Part 1" adds a new storyline, more power and entirely new game mechanics.
War of the Light - Part I is the first of three upcoming DLC packs revolving around characters able to manipulate the power of the emotional spectrum. In the "Fight of the Light" DLC for DC Universe Online, the light powers of the Lanterns were presented, and players were able to get a taste of the formidable abilities of the power rings which Hal Jordan and Sinestro wielded in the original comics. In War of the Light - Part I, DC Universe Online now adds another light power that is driven by the red light of rage and which can be used both for good as well as for evil. Thanks to these rage powers, players will be able to master a whole new set of gaming mechanics for tanks and employ berserker-like abilities, giving a whole new strategic dimension to group content.
Classic video game music reimagined in The String Arcade album - Free track download
In August, Bay Area composer Dren McDonald led a successful Kickstarter campaign for The String Arcade, a recording of classic video game music reimagined for string quartet. The finished recording was distributed to backers this month and is now available for preorder to the general public from iTunes and BandCamp (see below for links). The String Arcade will officially release February 11 for digital download and CD.
Rekoil game released Area Shooter Gets a heavy mental boost - PC
Set in a world devastated by an unrelenting pandemic, Rekoil is a multiplayer hardcore balanced arena shooter that allows mass battles of 16-24 players. Developed by a modder for new and experienced modders, the game features full mod tools as well as seven different game modes, 10 maps, and 40 different weapons, all focused on infantry based combat across a number of different locations. From the fast moving Assault class, to the heavily armed and dangerous Heavy Gunner class, Rekoil was made for those who desire balanced FPS gameplay with a large variety of different play styles.
