Odd Town Game retro-styled first-person sandbox adventure

Odd Town, the retro-styled first-person sandbox adventure

...from solo developer The Flying Baguette and publisher HYPERSTRANGE, is now available on Steam.

Welcome to Saint Sectaire, a bite-sized open world rife with secrets. Stranded after a car failure, one might be inclined to ask for directions to a trustworthy mechanic. Yet here, locals don’t take kindly to outsiders, especially since folks keep disappearing.

Tackle odd jobs to earn enough cash to get the hell out of town, or stir up trouble by breaking into storefronts and shaking down citizens. Unravel the strings of a conspiracy by scouring the streets for intel in a fully explorable town full of memorable characters and interactive objects, creating an absurd open-world package that takes 5+ hours to complete.
Don’t get cozy. They’re watching your every move in Odd Town, the retro-styled first-person sandbox adventure from solo developer The Flying Baguette and publisher HYPERSTRANGE, available today on PC via Steam.

As an out-of-towner stranded in Saint Sectaire after their car goes on the fritz, figure out how to earn enough cash to fix whatever’s busted…that is, if the townsfolk are trustworthy. And why wouldn’t they be? Explore a “totally normal” handcrafted town in a bite-sized open world adventure as a morally sound, upstanding citizen cleaning up the local cinema — or seek other, more devious means.

Odd jobs take a lot of moxie, but there’s only one way out of this bizarre borough. Choose a moral path wisely as every action has consequences here. Eat, drink, sleep, smoke, steal sandwiches, kick down doors, break storefront windows, and exercise autonomy in other creative ways while uncovering sinister secrets fueling the strange activities covered up by dystopian denizens.

Avoid the cops at all costs, or be thrown in jail for any crimes they even think you committed. Discover secret hidden passages all around town to escape prison, or enter restricted areas hiding unknown horrors from the public eye. Chat with citizens to help them with new jobs in a dynamic world with reactive characters to befriend (or make into new enemies). Be mindful as unusual incidents begin to occur, where people disappear, and police get more aggressive.

“The best mysteries offer many threads to pull at to keep you guessing,” said Przemysław Miliński, co-founder of HYPERSTRANGE. “Odd Town features a bite-sized open world absolutely packed with interwoven interactivity between the player and the townspeople. With full freedom to choose how to approach every situation comes unpredictable consequences, so unraveling Odd Town’s narrative will play out differently for everyone.”

Odd Town opens its doors to the public today on PC via Steam with English-language support for $11.99.
